Setting Up an Account in Windows 2000

Windows 2000 Professional enables you to make local user accounts, which have
varying degrees of access to the system and folders and files on the computer.You
create users for the computer using the Users and Passwords tool in Control
Panel with an account that’s a member of the Administrators group. If you
double-click the Users and Passwords icon, a dialog box opens with a button
labeled Add. Click the Add button; you will be able to create a new account by
adding information for the account. For greater control over users, you can use
the Advanced tab of Users and Passwords by following these steps:
1. In Users and Passwords, click the Advanced tab and then click the
button on this tab labeled Advanced.Microsoft Management Console
with the Local Users and Groups snap-in will appear.
2. In the right pane of Local Users and Groups, click the folder labeled
Users to display a list of users in the right pane.
3. In the right pane, right-click an empty space to display a menu, and then
click the New User item from the menu.This will start the New User
wizard.
4. Enter the account name for the user, their full name, and an optional
description of the user. Below this, enter the password for the user twice
(once to specify it, and a second time to confirm it).
5. Click Create to create a new account
